Sri Lankan authorities warn of more terror attacks

The State Intelligence Service of Sri Lanka received information about the upcoming new series of attacks involving members of the local group National Thowheed Jamaat, Report informs citing Russian press.

By the information, the purpose of new attacks by militants may be located on the island of Buddhist temples.

It is noted that following the explosions on April 21, the police conducted a series of anti-terrorist raids, when the warehouse of women's clothing was found in one of the houses. This suggested that the terrorists would use suicide bombers for their next attack.

Along with this, the ban on wearing clothes that cover the face has come into force today. The corresponding order was taken by the President of the country Maithripala Sirisena.

The ban applies to all types of clothing and hats that cover person's face and "interfere with his identification." It is noted that the authorities took such a step for security reasons.

On April 21, eight explosions occurred in Sri Lanka: the first six — in Colombo, Negombo and Batticaloa, seventh in Dehiwala on the West of the island, the eighth — in the suburbs of Colombo. Another bomb was found on the road leading to Bandaranaike international airport. According to the Ministry of health, 250-260 people were killed, more than 500 were injured.

The terrorist group "Islamic State" claimed responsibility for the attacks, but did not provide any evidence of its involvement.
