First region in Germany stops lockdown

The Federal state of the Saarland was the first in Germany to end the strict quarantine regime from today, Report informs, citing TASS.

There are cinemas, theaters, concert halls, fitness centers, street terraces of restaurants.

Access to gastronomic establishments and cultural institutions will be open to citizens after pre-booking and presenting a negative coronavirus test. Also, strict hygiene standards continue to apply on the premises, the number of visitors per square meter is limited. "In the fight against the coronavirus, we intend to go in new ways. The key to success is vaccination, testing, and mindfulness," said Tobias Hans, the region's Prime Minister." A year after the start of the pandemic, new ideas are needed, not just closures and restrictions."

Quarantine in Germany is now not as strict as in winter. Schools and kindergartens, hairdressers, beauty salons, flower shops, and bookstores are open. The increase in the number of infected people slowed in January and February, but since March, the indicators have again increased exponentially. Experts attribute this to the spread of a more contagious strain and believe that this exponential growth will continue until the beginning of April. Restrictive measures have been extended until April 18, and they are likely to be tightened.
