Second elections in Georgia amid COVID pandemic

Voting in elections to local self-government bodies continues in Georgia.

The neighboring country is holding elections for the second time amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Georgian bureau of Report informs.

Due to the rainy weather and early hours of the day, the activity in the polling stations is not high.

To avoid the spread of the coronavirus, serious security measures are taken during the voting process.

At polling stations, voters wear a mask, and commission members wear a face shield and gloves. The body temperature of the voters is not measured. They are allowed on the site after hand disinfection with a particular solution.

Voters use disposable pens. Compliance with social distance is monitored. Newly designed voting booths have been installed in Tbilisi at about 800 polling stations. The front side of the booths is open.

The voting process will end at 20:00 local time.
