A film is being shot in Khojaly about a wedding ceremony that was interrupted by the Armenian occupation in 1992 and resumed 32 years later. The movie is a joint project by Global Media Group and Report Information Agency.
On January 18, 1992, the wedding ceremony in Khojaly was abruptly halted due to Armenian shelling. The city, located in the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, was the site of the Khojaly massacre, one of the most tragic events of the Nagorno-Karabakh War. The massacre resulted in the deaths of 613 civilians, including women and children.
Now, 32 years later, the groom Vasif Gafarov, bride Durdana Mamedova, relatives, wedding guests, and musicians have returned to the liberated city of Khojaly to continue the ceremony that was so cruelly interrupted.
The project by Global Media Group will be remembered as the last wedding in Khojaly before the city's occupation and the first one after its liberation.
Report Information Agency, a part of Global Media Group, is actively involved in documenting this historic event.
