Russia expects that the trilateral working group on Karabakh will resume work in the near future, spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said at a weekly briefing, Report's Russian bureau informs.
"The unblocking of economic ties in the South Caucasus is a priority and most important task in the implementation of which all countries of the region are interested. Work in this direction was entrusted to the vice-prime ministers of the three states within the framework of a trilateral working group. Industry experts carried out an expert analysis of the necessary measures to restore communications, which allows to move to the phased implementation of joint infrastructure projects in the nearest future," Zakharova said.
"We hope that the trilateral working group will resume its activities in the near future. At the same time, incidents in certain areas on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border do not contribute to the normalization of the general background of relations. We call on the parties to restraint, de-escalate tensions and resolve conflicts peacefully, through negotiations," Zakharova said.
