UNDP consultant: Azerbaijan very active in demining

Azerbaijan and ANAMA are very active in demining, Report informs, citing UNDP consultant from the UK David Hewitson.

According to him, the international conference on demining underway in Baku today "is very important and is taking place at a very necessary time".

"The state and the demining agency (ANAMA) are very active in demining. This conference is a very good opportunity to connect all the experts and exchange views," he added.

An international conference on the topic "Humanitarian demining and sustainable development goals" has started today in Baku.

The agenda of the conference covers topics such as improving cooperation mechanisms to enhance global demining efforts, the joint participation in this process of government organizations, the international community, the private sector, and civil society, the application of best practices, innovative methods, and technological innovations.

About 120 participants from 30 countries are taking part in it, including 20 officials of structures specialized in the field of demining from the UK, Serbia, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Angola, Cambodia, Jordan, Sudan, etc. Among the participants are also members of parliaments of foreign countries, representatives of international organizations and embassies.
