Ukrainian NGO publishes article on course of demining and reconstruction of Karabakh

Azerbaijan is overcoming the difficult path of restoring its liberated territories with small but confident steps, according to the article posted on the website of the non-governmental organization "International Center for Counteracting Russian Propaganda" operating in Ukraine.

"The restoration of the liberated territories is a difficult path that Azerbaijan has faced and, as it seems at first glance, is successfully overcoming it with small but confident steps. Ukrainians should closely monitor the work of Azerbaijanis, because the same stages await us in the future," the article reads.

It is noted that the demining process is slow, because the de-occupied land is literally strewn with fragments of mines, which makes the sappers distracted from the really dangerous unexploded ordnance in these territories.

Khalig Zulfugarov, a representative of the Azerbaijan Republic Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), told the center that the main task now is to clear roads, routes and infrastructure facilities: “The Armenians gave us maps of minefields. But when checking, it turned out that their data is only 20% accurate, so we practically do not use them. In addition to mines, the land in the area is contaminated with a lot of unexploded ordnance, all of which complicates our work.”

"Currently, the demining of the territory where the Aghdam-Fuzuli highway and the Azadgaragoyunlu-Aghdam gas pipeline will be laid is ongoing. With the help of special equipment from Croatia, land surveys are carried out remotely. This significantly speeds up the process," the center notes.

The article also presents in detail the progress of reconstruction work in Karabakh, noted such successful projects as the airport in Fuzuli, the conference center in Aghdam, which can comfortably accommodate up to 500 people. "An important task for Azerbaijan is also the reconstruction of mosques. This is a restored mosque in the city of Aghdam. When the Azerbaijanis entered the city two years ago, they found that the occupants had set up a stable for keeping pigs and cows in the mosque.

A few years ago, peaceful life in the territory of Karabakh was unattainable, but Azerbaijan, despite all the difficulties, is making every effort to restore its lands," the center's article says.

The following describes in detail the implementation of the Smart Village and Smart City projects in the liberated territories.

"Despite the incessant pain of losing loved ones, Azerbaijanis are step by step establishing a peaceful life on the land scorched by shells, but not a single person in this state will forget the atrocities committed against their people .... The whole world is watching Azerbaijan actively healing wounds from the war and is restoring its territories," the author of the article concluded.
