Turkish envoy to Russia: We share joy of Azerbaijan’s victory

“Thanks to the efforts of President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people, Karabakh, which was under occupation for 30 years, was returned. This is also a very important event for the Turkish people,” Turkish Ambassador to Russia Mehmet Samsar said at an event in Moscow dedicated to the first anniversary of Azerbaijan’s Victory Day in the second Karabakh war, Report informs.

“As Heydar Aliyev said, ‘Turkey and Azerbaijan: one nation - two states.’ From the very beginning of the Karabakh war, we provided full support to Azerbaijan. As Mustafa Kemal Ataturk said: ‘The sorrow of Azerbaijan is the sorrow of Turkey, and the joy and victory of Azerbaijan is joy for Turkey.’ The 30-year occupation of Karabakh was a grief for the Turkish people, too. Today Turkey shares the joy of Azerbaijan’s victory. I congratulate Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the victory and express my sincere condolences to the families of martyrs,” Mehmet Samsar said.
