Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh issues statement

The statement of the Azerbaijani community of the Nagorno-Karabakh region of the Republic of Azerbaijan reads:

"Armenian media reported that the so-called 'structures' of the separatist regime created by this country in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan would be moved from Khankendi to Shusha.

Shusha is a city of great historical and spiritual significance for Azerbaijan, and on the eve of the 270th anniversary of its founding, we condemn another provocative attempt by Armenia.

The misrepresentation of the Upper Govhar Agha Mosque architecture in Shusha as an 'Iranian mosque' and the Russian church as 'Armenian church' were among such provocations.

Besides, the Armenian leadership organized a so-called 'inauguration' show in Shusha a few months ago.

Such systematic steps serve nothing but hinder the conflict settlement and should be strongly condemned by the international community.

These provocative and perverse actions of Armenia will never break our determination to return to our ancestral lands.

Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh subjected to ethnic cleansing will return to our lands and form institutions that embody the Republic of Azerbaijan sovereignty."
