Armenia has never had territorial claims to a neighboring country, and the clause that Karabakh should not be part of Azerbaijan cannot be included in a future peace treaty with Baku, Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan said, Report informs.
The introduction of such a clause may cause the emergence of mirror demands from Azerbaijan and render the peace treaty incapacitated.
“I don’t think that there should be such a mention in a possible peace treaty that Armenia and Azerbaijan will sign. This may cause a mirror requirement. Secondly, Armenia has never had territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Indicating the territories will only complicate and, possibly, turn a possible peace treaty into nothing,” Simonyan said.
