In a letter addressed to the UN Special Rapporteur on National Human Rights Institutions in protest of the Armenian Ombudsman's politically engaged and biased statement on the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict designed to mislead the international community, the Commissioner stressed the importance of preventing the use of the rostrum for biased purposes.

The Azerbaijani Ombudsman emphasized that the Paris Principles adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1993 on the status of national human rights institutions are universal and define the independent and impartial operation of these institutions. She added that the Armenian Ombudsman Institute, which has become a political propaganda tool in the hands of the Armenian government, should pass reaccreditation within the UN, and its status should be downgraded as it does not meet the Paris Principles and does not carry out an independent activity.
