Despite the current escalation of the situation on the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, work on the preparation for a peace treaty has not stopped, and this is probably the main priority, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova told a briefing, the Russian bureau of Report informs.
She also noted that the implementation of the points of the tripartite agreement remains the basis for resolving the conflict.
According to Zakharova, the Russian side provides the necessary assistance to this process, and the special representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry for the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Igor Khovaev, recently visited Baku and Yerevan.
“The main topic of the talks in Baku and Yerevan was the discussion of a peace treaty between the parties,” she said.
