Russian expert: Impossible to forgive and forget Khojaly genocide

The genocide committed in Khojaly cannot be forgiven and forgotten, an expert on international relations, member of the Russian Union of Journalists Yevgeni Mikhailov told Report.

"As a Russian, whose grandfathers fought and died in the Second World War, I am well aware of what fascists did to the peaceful population. But even I find it difficult to imagine the feelings and memories of Azerbaijanis after Armenian militants committed massacres in Khojaly. No one will ever forget the genocide committed by murderers. Moreover, it was committed by those whose fathers fought together on the fronts, who never put themselves above others and who fought for the same Fatherland," Mikhailov said.

He noted that this tragedy will remain in the memory of the Azerbaijani people, and 'only real pleas for forgiveness from the side of the Armenian people can somehow mitigate the bitterness of the tragedy.'

Mikhailov noted that everyone should remember and be reminded of the Khojaly massacre for similar things not to repeat.

"All those responsible must be punished, regardless of time and age," he said.
