Roots of Peace wants cooperation with ANAMA to assist demining in Karabakh

The international humanitarian organization Roots of Peace wants to cooperate with Azerbaijan's mine action agency ANAMA to facilitate demining operations in Karabakh, Heidi Kuhn, the founder and head of the Roots of Peace international humanitarian organization, told reporters.

According to Report's Karabakh bureau, she noted that it is her second visit to Karabakh where she traveled to see firsthand the extent of the destruction. Kuhn said that what she saw in the liberated territories was the evidence of brutality.

"Karabakh was once known as a black garden. It was a beautiful place surrounded by vineyards. Today, the black garden represents the seed of the devastation caused by landmines," she said.

Heidi Kuhn noted that she was impressed by the dedication of the ANAMA employees, who clear the territories of mines risking their lives, as well as the large-scale restoration work in Karabakh.
