Ombudsman: Armenia refuses to hand over landmine maps to Azerbaijan

After the end of the war, there have been dozens of cases when not only service members but also civilians died or were wounded being hit by a landmine, Azerbaijan's Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) Sabina Aliyeva said in her message addressed to international organizations on the occasion of September 21 - International Peace Day, Report informs.

"The Armenian side, which refuses to hand over the correct maps of areas it mined during the years of occupation, poses a serious threat to people's life and health and hinders the implementation of projects of state significance on the restoration and reconstruction of our liberated territories. In doing so, it violates the principle of non-discrimination in international humanitarian law, the requirements of Annex I of the Geneva Conventions of 1949, and demonstrates a clear disrespect to the international community," she said in her message.
