The war crimes committed by Armenians are the logical result of the asymmetric war they waged against Azerbaijan, Nizami Safarov, a member of the Milli Majlis (Parliament), said at the conference organized by the Social Research Center on "Armenia's war crimes against Azerbaijan in the last 30 years", Report informs.
"Asymmetric war can be carried out at different levels - military-strategic, operational, and political- and in different forms (for example, using terrorist methods). In any case, this involves a clear violation of international legal norms and principles that have been formed for many years and which regulate armed conflicts, resulting in war crimes," he said.
Safarov said that the typical indicators of asymmetric war are attacks on the civilian population and civilian infrastructure facilities, the use of prohibited weapons of war - cluster (cassette), phosphorous ammunition, inhumane treatment of hostages and prisoners of war, torturing and killing, long-term and large-scale damage to the environment, involving mercenaries and children in military operations, and so on.
