A new commander has been appointed for the Russian peacekeepers temporarily stationed in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, Report informs via Armenian media.
According to the media, Colonel-General Alexander Lentsov, adviser to the Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu, has been appointed to this position.
In this post, Lentsov will replace Andrey Volkov.
The Russian authorities have decided to recall the commander of the Russian peacekeepering contingent, Andrey Volkov, from Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region, Report informs via Yerevan-based Hraparak.
The commander's duties have been transferred to a colonel general, an experienced military man and one of the most trusted persons of Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu.
