Mahsati Huseynova: Russian peacekeepers obstruct unarmed civil society activists with their weapons

Russian peacekeepers obstruct unarmed civil society activists with their weapons and do not allow them to conduct monitoring, Mahsati Huseynova, the deputy chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, who joined the protest held in the Karabakh economic district on the part of the Shusha-Khankendi road, which is under the temporary control of Russian peacekeepers, demanding an end to environmental terrorism, told Report.

She said that they took this step to put an end to the ecological terror committed by the Armenians in Karabakh: "During the 30-year occupation, both our people and our ecology suffered great damage. Our enemies are continuing ecological terror by cutting down trees and at the same time illegally exploiting gold, copper-molybdenum deposits."

"We, as NGOs who love Azerbaijan and try to protect its ecology, are here today with a request for monitoring. Although we requested a meeting with the commander of the peacekeeping contingent, Andrey Volkov, neither he nor the relevant persons have come to our meeting for several hours. We will stay here as long as we can. We have set up tents and made preparations for this," M. Huseynova emphasized.
