Head of executive power: Armenia failed to sow panic among Ganja residents

Armenia tried to sow panic with terror among the inhabitants of the second largest city of Azerbaijan, but the people were not afraid and further united around the president, Niyazi Bayramov, head of the Ganja executive power, said, Report informs.

Bayramov was speaking at an event on the second anniversary of Ganja missile attacks, which brought together the heads of diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan who arrived in Ganja on October 17.

“The year 2020 has become one of the most joyful years in the history of Azerbaijan. Under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. Azerbaijani lands were liberated from occupation. However, during the 44-day war, Ganja experienced hard times as rockets were fired at civilians at night,” Bayramov said.

Two years have passed since the city of Ganja was subjected to the fifth missile attack by Armenian armed forces during the Second Karabakh War. At around 1 a.m. on October 17, 2020, the SCUD/Elbrus ballistic missiles were treacherously fired into the peacefully sleeping settlement of Javadkhan in the center of Azerbaijan’s second largest city of Ganja, which is located far from the combat zone.

Residential buildings in the shelling area were completely destroyed, the residents were left under the rubble. As a result of the shelling, 15 people were killed, more than 55 civilians were injured, and significant damage was caused to civilian infrastructure and vehicles. The dead and injured included minors, women and the elderly.
