Germany ready to support separate demining projects in Azerbaijan

Germany is ready to support individual demining projects in Azerbaijan, German Ambassador to Azerbaijan Wolfgang Manig said in Aghdam, Report informs.

He said that Germany adopted a new demining strategy, which, among other things, implies support for other countries in this area.

The ambassador noted that Azerbaijan has not yet ratified the Ottawa Convention (on the prohibition of the use, stockpiling, production, transfer of anti-personnel mines and their destruction).

"We are ready to focus on actions in these territories. We are ready to support individual projects. A certain budget is still being considered, but the country is ready to be actively involved in projects," the German ambassador said.

Today, participants in the international conference "Humanitarian demining and sustainable development goals" arrived in Aghdam, liberated from the Armenian occupation.

From March 31 to April 1, with the joint organizational support of the Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan for Mine Action (ANAMA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), a hybrid event on the topic "Humanitarian demining and sustainable development goals" is being held, which brought together about 120 participants in total from 30 countries of the world, including 20 officials of structures specialized in the field of demining from the UK, Serbia, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Angola, Cambodia, Jordan, Sudan, etc.
