FM: Azerbaijani environmental activists did not block Lachin road

Azerbaijani environmental activists protesting on the Shusha-Khankandi road did not block the road, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov told reporters, Report informs.

The minister noted that earlier today he had informed the heads of the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan and military attachés about the current situation.

According to him, civilian vehicles can move freely along the road in both directions, so there can be no talk of a humanitarian crisis.

"Pashinyan's statement about a humanitarian catastrophe allegedly happening there is not true. Besides, Azerbaijan has repeatedly stated that it is ready to provide for the humanitarian needs of the Armenians living in its territories, if necessary," Bayramov noted.

On a section of the Shusha-Khankandi road, a protest action of Azerbaijani environmental activists against the illegal exploitation of natural resources continues for the fourth day.

Azerbaijani activists and members of environmental non-governmental organizations (NGOs) demand an end to ecological terror in the Karabakh economic region.

As a result of negotiations held on December 3 and 7, 2022, with the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, a delegation consisting of specialists from the Azerbaijani Ministries of Economy, Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Property Service under the Ministry of Economy and AzerGold CJSC was to conduct preliminary monitoring of illegal exploitation of mineral deposits on the territory of Azerbaijan, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed. However, due to the inaction of the peacekeepers, the monitoring did not take place.
