Expert: Several EU countries supported Armenia at UN Security Council meeting solely out of Christian solidarity

A number of EU countries spoke out against Azerbaijan at a meeting of the UN Security Council, guided solely by the fact that Armenia is a Christian country, Pakistani international relations analyst Khalid Taimur Akram told Report.

“A number of EU countries, in particular, pro-Armenian France and Germany, spoke out against Azerbaijan at a meeting of the UN Security Council, most likely guided by only one principle: a Christian country protects a Christian one, even if justice and international law are on the side of a third country,” he noted.

Khalid Taimur Akram added that there is an increasingly active growth of Islamophobia in the West, and the frequent burning of the Holy Quran, for example, in Sweden, is evidence of this: “It is not surprising that one of the countries that acted negatively towards Azerbaijan was France, which became famous for its Islamophobia. This is a country where the Armenian lobby has long taken root.”

According to the expert, the unfounded accusations made at the UN Security Council meeting are especially absurd, given that even Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan himself stated that the lives of Armenians in Karabakh are not endangered.
