Expert: Sending UNESCO mission to Azerbaijan, Armenia to have positive effect on entire region

Sending a UNESCO mission to Azerbaijan and Armenia will have a positive effect on the countries and the development of the entire region as a whole, Russian political scientist, Director of the Institute of Contemporary Development Dmitry Solonnikov told Report.

An agreement to send a UNESCO mission to Azerbaijan and Armenia was reached at a video meeting with the participation of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of France Emmanuel Macron, President of the European Council Charles Michel, and Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan.

The expert stressed that if UNESCO becomes one of the "communication corridors between Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding cultural heritage and historical monuments, this will also have a positive effect on both countries."

In particular, according to him, the meeting held in video format should be assessed positively as another step towards the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
