Expert: Mine problem in Azerbaijan requires serious attention of int’l organizations

The mine problem in the liberated Azerbaijani territories requires serious attention from international organizations, military expert, retired colonel, former official representative of the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces Vladislav Seleznev told Report.

According to Seleznev, the world elite often turns a blind eye to the illegal actions of the Armenian armed forces, including the mining of territories.

“According to the experts of the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining, 1 day of hostilities implies 30 days of demining work in the future,” he stressed.

The expert noted that over the 30 years of occupation, the Armenian forces have caused serious damage to the historical lands of Azerbaijan: “There is nothing sacred for the occupiers. I saw destroyed houses, mosques, cultural monuments. For 30 years they have not created anything on the lands that they controlled.”

According to Seleznev, the challenges that Azerbaijan is currently facing - mine clearance, infrastructure restoration, etc., will also be faced by Ukraine in the future. It will also have to return to normal life the territories that are currently under the control of Russian troops, he noted.

“We have many common problems. The people of Azerbaijan and the people of Ukraine should unite and create bilateral communication formats to solve these problems,” he concluded.
