ElDiario: Ilham Aliyev says Armenia must comply with ceasefire pact

The Spanish publication ElDiario wrote an article about the press conference held by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for local and foreign media on February 26.

Report informs that, according to the article, Ilham Aliyev said that Armenia's political crisis after its defeat in the war in Nagorno-Karabakh was their "internal affair."

The Azerbaijani leader also noted that this should not hinder the implementation of the agreement signed in November last year.

"There is a crisis now in Armenia. I would not like to comment on its internal processes. We never interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, especially at such a sensitive time, but the results of the war remain unchanged, and the trilateral agreement of November 10, 2020, must be implemented," the publication quotes Ilham Aliyev.

Aliyev stressed that Armenia would face serious problems if it did not implement the provisions of the Declaration.

Most of the nine points of the ceasefire statement have already been carried out, but, according to Ilham Aliyev, some aspects of the document are currently being discussed. The fact that Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan is accepted all over the world. Still, the victory of official Baku in the war for this territory inhabited by ethnic Armenians has created new realities. Armenia has no choice but to accept these realities.

The President of Azerbaijan noted with confidence that all prisoners of war had been returned to Armenia. More than 60 Armenian soldiers are terrorists, and therefore. they are not considered prisoners of war.

Ilham Aliyev did not rule out the normalization of relations with Armenia in the future and the signing of a peace agreement at some stage. However, the Declaration of November 10, 2020, is, in fact, an act of Armenia's capitulation and a de facto peace agreement.
