Chifu: Experience of Romanian companies can be useful in restoring liberated Azerbaijani lands

“I think that a Romanian assist in demining would be welcome. It seems that demining is the first need in the new freed territories since that is a precondition for cleaning the land and preparing for further infrastructure and civilian building,” Iulian Chifu, director of the Center for Conflict Prevention and Early Warning (Romania), told Report.

He was commenting on the question of what assistance Romania is ready to provide in the restoration of the liberated Azerbaijani territories.

“Romanian companies proved to be useful in infrastructure, roads and buildings, in water works and smart city green energy self-sustainable projects. Besides the infrastructure, the societal reconstruction, the societal cohesion, here we could have an added value ourselves, Romanians as well as European,” he noted.

“Let’s not forget the effort to be made in order to reconcile the two neighbor countries, Azerbaijan and Armenia. We have to avoid staying to peaceful coexistence and to move to good neighborly relations. Here it is an effort where we could also help. So post-conflict full-fledged reconstruction, including reconciliation, confidence building and social engineering,” he added.
