The visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the airport in the liberated Fuzuli is very important: it assigns to the whole world that Azerbaijan has reunified, its territorial integrity is restored and the country is ready to build the transportation hub in Fuzuli to help the entire South Caucasus to reintegrate, Matthew Bryza, an international expert and senior fellow at the US Atlantic Council, told Report.
“President Erdogan’s visit to Fuzuli underscores the powerful victory of Azerbaijan in last year’s 44-day war, which is the greatest military and diplomatic victory in the history of Azerbaijan. Erdogan’s visit also show how close Azerbaijan and Turkey are, the slogan of which is “two countries, one nation”. Turkey made clear that it will support Azerbaijan as strong as possible,” he said.
Bryza also noted that this visit shows that the airport can be used to attract friends, businessmen, leaders, investors and others to the liberated land of Azerbaijan and in that way make it smoother for investments to take place.
The opening of the Fuzuli International Airport took place on October 26. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan participated in the opening ceremony.
