Bryza: Azerbaijan decisive in attracting financial resources for construction of infrastructure projects

The imminent opening of Fuzuli airport shows how determined and effective Azerbaijan's government can be in bringing together a large amount of financial resources to build these essential infrastructure projects that the entire region needs, a senior fellow at the US Atlantic Council, international expert Matthew Bryza told Report.

It is a remarkable achievement that the Fuzuli airport could be open this autumn with the first test flight scheduled for September 5, he noted.

"I hope to see this continues and to see that Azerbaijan will gain the financial support from the outside world," he added.

"During my last visit to Azerbaijan in April, when I visited Aghdam, I was very impressed to see the extensive ongoing work to rebuild the road and highway to Aghdam as well as the railroad," said Bryza.

He added that there is a huge task ahead to remove all the hundreds and thousands of mines that remain on the liberated lands of Azerbaijan.

"Only then can be the full normal return of Azerbaijani displaced people to their previous lands and homes," Bryza said.
