Azerbaijani official: Grant policy to focus on reconstruction of Karabakh

Agency of State Support to Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) of the Republic of Azerbaijan will support NGOs to invite international organizations to the country, Azay Guliyev, chairman of the supervisory board of the Agency, told reporters during his visit to Aghdam district, the Karabakh bureau of Report informs.

He noted that the Agency’s grant policy would be aimed primarily at the revival of Karabakh.

“We have very serious plans in material, organizational and informational terms for the return to Karabakh. We will support NGOs operating in Azerbaijan so that they invite international organizations to our country. First of all, we must ensure the participation of international organizations and NGOs operating abroad in the demining process. This is a significant issue. Land demining is of vital importance. Without demining, it is impossible to carry out construction work. NGOs have great potential in this regard.”

Guliyev added that to once again demonstrate the right position of Azerbaijan in the world, special importance should be attached to the information war: “Recently, the Armenians have launched a false and defamatory campaign against Azerbaijan. NGOs should be active. They should bring what they saw to the attention of both the local and foreign public. NGOs have sufficient potential to inform international organizations, particularly the OSCE, the EU, the UN, the Council of Europe, and its other structures.”
