The EU Monitoring Mission in Armenia (EUMA) was not in a position to identify the origin of the shooting which they heard on the conditional border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, EU Spokesperson Peter Stano told Report.
While conducting a patrol on August 15 near the Yukhari Shorzha village, the EU Monitoring Mission in Armenia (EUMA) reported 4-5 shots being fired approximately one kilometer from where the mission was patrolling, Stano said.
"The mission was not in a position to identify the origin, nor the target of the shooting. The patrol members did not identify themselves to be the target of the shooting, but took protective measures and left the area," he said.
Curiously enough, EUMA's official page on X, formerly known as Twitter, first published a post according to which the patrol was not subjected to shooting, as claimed by the Armenian Defense Ministry.
But apparently under the active pressure of the Armenian side and its patrons in the EU, the post was replaced with another one, according to which the patrol was present during the shooting incident and no one was injured without mentioning that the mission could identify neither the origin of the shots nor the target of the shooting.
Azerbaijan's Ministry of Defense also denied Armenian reports that Azerbaijani army units allegedly opened fire on EU mission and their car on August 15 at about 12:20 in the area of the settlement of Yukhari Shorzha, Basarkechar district of Armenia. The ministry called it another disinformation spread by the hostile party.
