Armenia coerced to admit Karabakh is Azerbaijan - pundit

Azerbaijan’s victory in the Second Karabakh War put an end to Armenian nationalist dreams of a “United (Greater) Armenia” that stretched into western Azerbaijan and Karabakh, Taras Kuzio, Associate Research Fellow at the Henry Jackson Society think tank in London, told Report.

“Azerbaijan’s victory allowed the rebuilding of an area that had been devastated by an occupying force and the return of refugees. The victory has given Armenia no choice but to – eventually - accept that Karabakh is part of Azerbaijan,” he said.

Azerbaijan’s victory in the Second Karabakh War reversed nearly three decades of Armenia’s illegal occupation of a fifth of Azerbaijani territory, as well as showed that the OSCE is a paper tiger that had been unable to resolve the Karabakh conflict, he added.

Kuzio noted that the Second Karabakh War also highlighted the importance of Turkey to Azerbaijan’s military victory, as seen in the June Shusha Declaration, as well as an economic, diplomatic and military partner for Ukraine.
