ANAMA: 2,806 citizens injured because of mines planted by Armenians, 639 killed

In general, 2 806 citizens were injured in the explosions of mines laid by the Armenians, 639 were killed in period from 1992 to 2021. From November 10, 2020, to the present day, 32 have been wounded, and 18 died, Deputy Chairman of the Board at the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) Samir Poladov said at an event dedicated to the International Mine Awareness Day at the ADA University, Report informs.

Poladov noted that from 1998 to 2020, 547.3 million square meters of the Azerbaijani territories were cleared, where more than 808,000 mines and other explosive devices were found. From November 10, 2020, to March 30, 2021, 14.1 million square meters of land were cleared from 3,481 mines.

According to him, over the past 20 years, ANAMA has been carrying out mine clearance activities not only in Azerbaijan but also in other countries.

Poladov also thanked donor organizations for their support and assistance in demining the territories of Azerbaijan.

He specifically warned against civilians entering uncleared areas without obtaining appropriate permits and urged citizens to refrain from traveling to the liberated territories.
