Alessandra Roccasalvo: UNDP plans to expand its activities in Karabakh

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) plans to expand its activities in Azerbaijan's Karabakh region by focusing on providing economic training, supporting self-employment, and fostering the growth of small and medium-sized businesses, Alessandra Roccasalvo, the program's resident representative in Azerbaijan, said in a statement to Report in Kalbajar.

Roccasalvo emphasized that UNDP works closely with Azerbaijan's State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons. "We are doing a lot of work in the areas of demining, training on mine clearance, and assistance to victims. However, we hope to expand our activities in the fields of economic training, self-employment, and the development of small and medium-sized businesses in the future," she noted.

The resident representative, who has visited the region several times, expressed her admiration for the progress of the restoration work. "I have been to Karabakh several times, so this is not my first visit. Each region is unique in its nature and opportunities. I am particularly pleased to see Kalbajar. The restoration work, the hydroelectric power plant under construction, and the residential complex made a great impression on me. I hope that as many people as possible will return here in the coming years and contribute to the economic recovery of Karabakh," she added.
