The construction of a number of new reservoirs is planned to improve the water supply in the liberated territories, Ilham Guliyev, an official of the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency (ADSEA), told journalists, Report informs.
According to Guliyev, the feasibility study and design estimate documents for the Hakarichay and Bargushadchay reservoirs have already been prepared:
"The Hakarichay reservoir is expected to have a capacity of 91 million cubic meters, and the Bargushadchay reservoir is expected to have a capacity of 67 million cubic meters. The implementation of these projects will contribute to the provision of both irrigation and drinking water to Lachin, Gubadli, Zangilan and other districts."
Guliyev added that the preparation of feasibility studies for the Sarsang reservoir is also nearing completion: "The reservoir, which will have a capacity of 565 million cubic meters, will serve to irrigate a total of 96,000 hectares in the Agdara, Tartar, Agdam, Barda, Goranboy and Yevlakh districts."
The Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency official noted that the documents for the Giz Galasi reservoir and the 52-km main canal that will emerge from it, as well as the Tartarchay right bank irrigation canal projects, are and are expected to begin implementation soon: "As a result of these projects, the water supply of tens of thousands of hectares of cultivated land will be significantly improved."
