Azerbaijani, Turkish officials to discuss Nakhchivan corridor

Turkey is working with the Azerbaijani side on the Nakhchivan transport corridor, the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu said.

"Official visits from Azerbaijan to Turkey are expected next week," he noted.

Report informs, citing Anadolu Agency, that the issue of the Nakhchivan corridor may be raised again during the meetings.

The joint statement signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Russia on the end of military operations in Karabakh and the ceasefire on November 10 also included the opening of the Nakhchivan corridor. The statement said that all economic and transport ties in the region are being restored. Armenia guarantees the security of transport links between the western parts of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to organize the unimpeded movement of citizens, vehicles, and cargo in both directions. The border service of the Federal Security Service of Russia exercises the transportation control. Based on the agreement between the parties, new transport communications connecting the Nakhchivan and the western regions will be provided.
