The informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), scheduled for May 15, will focus on discussions on expanding cooperation in artificial intelligence, digitalization, cybersecurity, and transport, Kazakh political analyst Madi Raimov told Kazakhstan's bureau of Report.
According to him, today it is precisely Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan that serve as the locomotives of transport integration within the OTS, as both countries have advantageous geographic positions and financial capabilities.
The political analyst believes that, therefore, leaders of the OTS member states will discuss the development of a transport route through Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan at the informal summit.
"I think the key issue right now is the Middle Corridor. The main beneficiaries are Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Amid a complex situation and instability in traditional routes, the transport corridor through Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan has become the most important route for delivering goods to Europe. Today, the Middle Corridor is the most in-demand route in the current situation," he said.
Raimov emphasized that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan offer cargo delivery in approximately two weeks: "Our countries aim to increase transport volumes. Once the Zangazur Corridor is opened, the route will become even faster. As a result, this route will become even more important for China, and investment will flow into it."
He added that the development of the route would facilitate technological exchange within the Turkic world.
According to him, an additional important project is the laying of a fiber-optic communication line under the Caspian Sea between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
"Since we are talking about IT and digital development, this is also very important. Once the project between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan is completed, internet speeds will increase," Raimov noted.
