Varank: Tesla intends to enter Turkish market and invest in economy

US carmaker Tesla hopes to enter the Turkish market and invest in the country, with steps towards this goal ongoing, Turkish Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank said while commenting on the results of the meeting at the Tesla plant in Fremont as part of his visit to the United States.

"Tesla is one of the brands of the future of the global automotive industry. The company is looking to expand exports," Varank said.

According to him, the electric car manufacturer is in talks to enter the Turkish market.

"Actually, Tesla has previously expressed interest in investing in Turkiye, including the creation of recharging stations, but the process was delayed due to the company's internal studies," he said.

At the same time, Varank noted the importance of Turkiye's cooperation with Tesla in the field of technology.

"Turkiye has a very serious system for stimulating investors, especially in terms of research and development. We welcome investments. For Tesla, access to the market is important, and investments in technology and production are important for us. We have presented our proposals to the company. Currently, Tesla already has suppliers from Turkiye," the minister said.
