The application of the Turkish military system and military industry played an important role in Azerbaijan's Karabakh victory, and this success created a revival in the entire Turkic world and strengthened the unity of the Turkic states, Ismail Cingoz, a Turkish specialist in political science and international relations, told Report.
Recalling that after the military coup attempt in 2016, Türkiye has entered a new stage of development in the military defense industry, the expert said that the military sanctions by the United States against Türkiye in recent years have urged his country to get significant achievements in this field: “The West and the United States have imposed military sanctions against Türkiye from time to time since the 1960s. The clearest example of this is the imposition of sanctions during the Cyprus Peace Movement in 1974. Therefore, since 1975, our country has entered a significant stage of development in the field of military industry. But in recent years, the US refusal to sell F-16 fighter jets to Türkiye, Türkiye’s purchase of S-400 air defense systems from Russia, accusations that Türkiye is not important for NATO, withdrawal of Türkiye from the F-35 fighter production program, and the introduction of military sanctions under such pretexts urged our state to make serious investments in military industry and as a result to achieve success. With the production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and combat drones, Türkiye has become a rising power in the world. In the field of the defense industry, names such as Akıncı, Hurkus, Sungur, and Aksungur became prominent brands in the world. In addition, the Turkish Armed Forces also engaged in national investments and local production, especially in armored personnel carrier (APC), tank, and missile production. Türkiye, which is a candidate to become an important supplier of the future in these fields, is attracting attention with its decreasing foreign dependence day in and day out. In the near future, Türkiye, which is going to launch locally produced fighter jets, will get rid of its dependence on the United States to a large extent, especially F-16 fighter jets, and even become one of the world's leading countries in this field.”
Ismail Cingoz said that with these activities, the Organization of Turkic States under the leadership of Türkiye and Azerbaijan can become the “third pole” of the new world system:
“Türkiye's strengthening of local and national defense industry production, especially the air defense systems, and entering a new stage of development is turning our country into a global power. From this point of view, Türkiye has been the guarantor not only of itself but of the entire Turkic world. At this stage, the military agreements signed between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, the design of the Azerbaijani army with the same concept as the Turkish army was an important step. Of course, the application of this alliance to other Turkic states will increase the power of the Turkic world. Joint action not only in the military but also in the economy, technology, education, science, linguistics, medicine, agriculture, and other important fields will make a great contribution to the Turkic world. In this regard, valuing the 2040 vision of OTS will increase the power of the Turkic world. We must believe that the Turks will take a place among the world leaders and we must act on this strategy.”
