Tokayev orders creation of state commission over AZAL plane crash near Aktau

The government of Kazakhstan is cooperating with the government of Azerbaijan to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the causes of the AZAL airline plane crash near Aktau and to provide priority assistance.

Report informs, citing the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan. that by decree of the government of Kazakhstan, a government commission has been established to investigate the causes of the AZAL airline Embraer 190 aircraft crash near Aktau airport.

The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, the information states.

The commission includes: Deputy Prime Minister, Akim (Governor) of Mangistau region, leadership of the Ministries of Emergency Situations, Transport, Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs, Labor and Social Protection, Healthcare, and the Chief Transport Prosecutor. "The commission has been instructed to immediately fly to the scene, ensure a comprehensive investigation of the causes of the plane crash, and take measures to provide priority assistance to the families of the deceased and injured," the information states.

Following the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) aircraft near Aktau, a state commission has been established by order of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to be headed by Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev, Report informs via Kazinform.

Tokayev ordered doctors from Astana to be sent to Aktau and to provide all necessary support to the victims.

The Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan reports that currently the Aktau airport is open and operating normally.
