“Armenians killed 57 people in Garadaghli, 39 people went missing,” Azerbaijani State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons said, Report informs.

According to the Commission, on February 17, 1992, under the leadership of Monte Melkonyan, an Armenian international terrorist and the leader of the ASALA terrorist organization, a merciless genocide was carried out against the civilian population during the occupation of the village of Garadagli, Khojavand district, Republic of Azerbaijan.

During the occupation, 57 out of 116 people in the village were killed. In addition to the Armenian military, civilian Armenians, including Armenian residents of the villages close to the village of Garadaghli, actively participated in the killing of the villagers.

Villagers who were taken hostage were mercilessly tortured and subjected to genocide, and ethnic cleansing was carried out against them.

Although the bodies of 27 of the 57 people killed during the genocide were later handed over to the Azerbaijani side, the bodies of 30 people were not handed over. In addition, information about the fate of 9 people who were first taken to the occupied city of Khankandi and from there to an unknown destination after being taken hostage, was hidden. At present, the Azerbaijani State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons is searching for 39 people who went missing during the occupation of the village of Garadagli, Khojavand district. 33 of them are men, 5 are children (boys), and 1 is a woman.

50 hostages (47 civilians, 2 soldiers, 1 police officer) were later released.

31 years have passed since the occupation of Garadagli village, Khojavand district, by Armenian military and terrorists.
