Russian citizen who made provocative statements against Azerbaijan declared internationally wanted

Russian citizen Mikhail Alexandrov was declared internationally wanted, Report informs, citing information of the Press Service of the Prosecutor General's Office.

On December 13, 2022, Mikhail Alexandrov, the leading expert of the Center for Military-Political Studies of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MSIIR), RF, Ph.D. in Law, delivered an audio message to a wide audience. Attempting to undermine relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation, he openly called to "bombard with rockets and completely destroy the entire oil industry and energy system of Azerbaijan."

On December 19, a criminal case against Mikhail Alexandrov was launched by the Prosecutor General under Articles 101.2 (open calls to start an aggressive war through the mass media), 214.2.3 (threats to commit terrorism by using firearms), and 283.2.1, 283.2.2 (inciting national hatred and enmity by taking advantage of one's official position) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The preliminary investigation was entrusted to the Investigation Department of the General Prosecutor's Office.

Since sufficient evidence was collected, a decision on his involvement as an accused person was applied under the mentioned articles of the Criminal Code. By a court decision, he was put on the international wanted list through Interpol, imposing arrest as a measure of restraint. At the same time, requests were addressed to the competent authorities of a number of partner states to ensure his extradition.

Currently, intensive investigative measures are underway. The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan states that the measures provided by law will be taken with regard to any provocative actions against the national interests, security, and territorial integrity of our country.
