In Kalva village, Aghsu district, a sudden mudslide triggered by the storm swept away an excavator.
According to the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads (SAAAR), the incident claimed the life of a site supervisor. Three other crew members were injured.
All of the affected workers were employed by a subcontractor involved in the construction of the Mughanly–Ismayilli–Gabala highway.
Locals said the workers had taken shelter inside the excavator to escape the strong wind and rain. Tragically, that’s when the mudflow struck—overpowering the machinery and carrying it off in the torrent.
