Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan talks over phone with his Iranian counterpart, condemns terrorist act at embassy

On February 13, Kamran Aliyev, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and Mohammad Jafar Montazeri, the Prosecutor General of the Islamic Republic of Iran, had a telephone conversation, at the initiative of the Iranian side, Report informs.

Prosecutor General Montazeri expressed his regret for the crime committed in the building of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Tehran on January 27 and expressed his condolences to the people of Azerbaijan and the family members of the victims. The Prosecutor General of Iran informed his Azerbaijani counterpart in detail about the progress of the investigation of the criminal case.

Kamran Aliyev condemned the terrorist act committed against the embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Iran and brought to his counterpart's attention that the investigation of the criminal case is ongoing in the relevant investigative agency of Azerbaijan. The Prosecutor General stressed the necessity of a full and comprehensive investigation into the criminal case by Iran, identification and prosecution of all participants, and investigation into the cause and circumstances of this terrorist act.

In the end, both parties agreed to keep this criminal case under control and cooperate within the framework of mutual legal assistance.
