The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan conducted unannounced visits to detention facilities, Report informs, citing the Office of the Ombudsman.
As part of the next visit conducted by the Ombudsman based on the requirements of international and national legal norms, many accused persons were received, including Ruben Karleni Vardanyan, who was detained and arrested at the Lachin border crossing point of the Azerbaijan-Armenia state border.
Vardanyan expressed his satisfaction with the conditions of detention. He noted that he had undergone a preliminary medical examination and that he did not have any health problems. Telephone conversation with his family members, gift receipt, use of the library and access to information are provided. At the same time, the rights of the arrested person during the investigation period are ensured by a lawyer chosen by his family.
Within the framework of the visit, the conditions of detention in the institution - personal hygiene and sanitation, medical care, nutrition issues were inspected on the spot, and it was determined that the rights, access to information, and necessary medical and psychological services were provided to the detained persons without any discrimination.
