Justice Ministry: 7,369 inmates freed under Amnesty Act

"Under the Act of Amnesty, 7,369 inmates were set free from various court sentences," Aynur Sabitova, head of the Justice Ministry's Human Rights and Public Relations Department, told Report.

She elaborated that the parliamentary law "On amnesty on the occasion of November 8 - Victory Day" from November 5, 2021, was applied to 8,825 prisoners.

"Of them 3,809 were applied by the Penitentiary Service, 5,010 by the Probation Service. The sentences of 1,450 people have been commuted."
