Ex-employee of State Social Fund jailed to 9.5 years in prison for bribery

Parviz Iskandarov, the former chief accountant of the Jalilabad regional branch of the State Social Protection Fund, was detained for taking a bribe, and his acquaintances Galib Alaskarov and Malik Nasirov, were sentenced.

As Report informs, the trial, chaired by Judge of the Lankaran Grave Crimes Court Ilkin Abdullayev, Parviz Iskandarov was sentenced to 9 years and 6 months and Galib Alaskarov to 8 years in prison. The court decision on police supervision of Galib Alaskarov was replaced by arrest and he was arrested in the courtroom.

Malik Nasirov was sentenced to 5 years of restriction of freedom (electronic bracelet). Dissatisfied with the decision, the convicts filed an appeal, which is being considered in the Shirvan Court of Appeal.

Parviz Iskandarov was detained in May 2020 on suspicion of extorting a bribe for 3,700 manats for the appointment of targeted state social assistance and pensions to citizens. He was charged with article 311.3.2. (repeated bribe-taking) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan.
