Criminal case against 26 more members of Armenian armed formations sent to court

The State Security Service and the Prosecutor General's Office have issued a joint statement.

Report informs that the statement reads:

"The Main Investigation Department of the State Security Service has completed a preliminary investigation into the case of members of Armenian armed groups disarmed as a result of the anti-terrorist operation on December 13, 2020, who secretly entered the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan and took positions in the forests in the north-western part of the village of Hadrut of the Khojavand region and committed terrorist-provocative and other criminal acts against the servicemen of the Azerbaijani army and civilians.

"The investigation revealed that a group of Armenian citizens created illegal armed formations. On November 26-27, 2020, they, as part of an organized group, illegally crossed the state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan and committed explosions, arsons, and other terrorist acts.

"Earlier, the public was informed that the investigation of the criminal case against 14 members, and then 13 members of this armed group, was completed and, together with the approved indictment, was sent to the court for consideration.

"Currently, in connection with the listed facts, a criminal case against 26 more members of an illegal armed group - Mikaelyan Andranik Vazgenovich, Soghomonyan Setrak Samvelovich, Karapetyan Rafik Robertovich and other persons charged under Articles 214.2.1, 214.2.3, 228.3, 279.2, and 318.2 of the Criminal Code Of the Republic of Azerbaijan, together with the indictment approved by the Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Azerbaijan, is sent to the court for consideration."
