Baku hosts landmark security forum

The II Baku Security Forum, organized by the State Security Service (SSS) of Azerbaijan, took place in Baku with the participation of representatives from security agencies of nearly 50 countries worldwide.

According to Report, President Ilham Aliyev's address to the forum participants was delivered, emphasizing the significance of the event in strengthening cooperation between nations.

Video materials on current security issues were also presented.

In his speech, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev, head of the SSS, stressed the importance of coordinating the activities of security agencies in combating international terrorism and situations that pose a threat to the overall security system. He noted that holding the forum on the eve of COP29 was no coincidence, as terrorist attacks targeting transportation infrastructure used for energy resource transportation could lead to global economic and ecological catastrophes.

The creation of a permanent secretariat for the Baku Security Forum was announced at the event, an initiative put forward by President Ilham Aliyev and unanimously supported by the participating countries. This secretariat will operate on a permanent basis in Baku.
