A citizen of the Republic of Tajikistan who was on international wanted lists has been extradited to his home country, said the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan, Report informs.
According to a statement by the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan, Saddam Mirzoyev, born in 1999, was wanted by Tajik authorities for participating in the activities of a banned extremist organization. Following a request from Tajikistan’s Prosecutor General’s Office, Azerbaijan approved his extradition for prosecution.
Mirzoyev was located and detained in Azerbaijan in March 2025, and a pre-trial detention measure was applied against him.
His extradition was carried out under the 2002 Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters. He was handed over to Tajikistan's authorized bodies under escort by the Special Convoy Unit of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Justice’s Penitentiary Service.
