Armenian saboteur: We were ordered to blow up the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline

A trial of Armenian citizens, Sargsyan Ishkhan Ashoti and Rafaelyan Vladimir Otari, who are being accused of terrorism, continued at Baku’s Sabunchi district court today.

Report informs that the prosecutor read out the indictment at the trial, chaired by judge Elmin Rustamov of the Ganja Grave Crimes Court.

Under the charge, the commander of the special purpose intelligence group of the Armenian Defense Ministry, I. Sargsyan, and V. Rafaelyan, who served as a civil engineer, on May 7, 2021, illegally crossed the state border of Azerbaijan in the direction of Kalbajar District.

They mined the supply routes of the units of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry, stationed in this territory passing through the territory of the Yukari Ayrim village of Kalbajar District.

Witnesses were questioned at the trial.

Defendant Ishkhan Sargsyan stated in his testimony that on May 24, 2021, he was ordered by the command to go to Sisian.

“We were soldiers of special forces 022. The next day, an order came to conduct reconnaissance of the area, block roads, mine and lay barbed wire. We were ordered to picture the area, where the mines were buried. We were also ordered to blow up the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. Then Azerbaijani soldiers came and opened a warning fire."

The trial will continue on January 24.
